Moving from another risk system
Desks moving from FT Options, Mosaic, MicroHedge (FIS) or Derivix. Options risk platforms have a long half-life, and a desk stays on one because the cost of moving is unknown, not because the software is still good.
A desk that has run on an options risk system for years has its own names for things, and they are rarely a vendor's names. Here is the same vocabulary, pointed at where it lives in Lavender.
What moving actually involves
So we take it off the table. Before anything is signed, connected or installed, you see your own book in Lavender.
Send us yesterday's start-of-day file — the one your clearing firm already produces. Nothing to install, and no change to how the desk runs today.
Lavender beside your current system, on the same book, for as long as it takes to trust the numbers. The book is built from your clearing firms' own start-of-day files, so both systems are reading the same positions.
Where two systems that model American options differently disagree, they should — near an ex-dividend date, deep in the money, in a hard-to-borrow name. The difference represents a potential risk or opportunity.
